Postscript

Our church does a quarterly celebration of faith service. The service includes baptisms, baby dedications, communion, and this time it also include commissioning us to missions service. They shared briefly about how we were going to be leaving to raise support full-time with Wycliffe in order to work in Nairobi, Kenya. Then while a short Wycliffe video was playing, the pastoral team and board members prayed for us. Our pastor and some others at the church have walked with us through our application process with Wycliffe and these last few months as we looked towards going on the road. We’re thankful for their involvement in the process.

Our house is nearly all packed up, and we’re wrapping up our jobs at the Wycliffe office in Orlando. Soon we’ll be leaving to go to North Carolina for a month long cross cultural training course. We’ll be traveling to churches in various states after that, and then??? who know… only God does.

My friends, Bonnie and Alecia, from college spent the last few days with me. We spent a couple of days in Miami and Miami beach. It was so fun! In addition to exploring the city, we went to the beach on Key Biscayne. It was so beautiful.

This morning I brought them to the airport. It could be our last big Florida trip together for a while.

Now it’s getting real. The moving truck arrived today. It picked up a collection of what remains of our belongings. Some things are headed to North Carolina for long-term storage. Some is headed to Rhode Island to my parent’s house to be added to their household, kept for long-term storage and held aside to possibly go to Kenya with us later. This move is complicated…

In about a month we’ll be going to North Carolina for a month of training. Life is about to get really different.

We’ve left Orlando for a couple of weeks in New England. We have appointments or services at seven churches. This will be our first real experiences sharing about our ministry together in front of some groups. Jeff’s feeling a little nervous about the public speaking we will be doing.

Our flight left really early. We woke up at 3am to get ready. I turned on the TV just for some background noise while we were getting ready. It was so interesting. The program that came was one featuring John Wycliffe at the moment I turned on the TV.
