Postscript

We left early this morning for the long drive to Pensacola. I never realized how far out it is! This was my (Heather) first time in the Florida panhandle. We arrived in time for the service at Brian & Missy Schmelzenbach’s church. We visited with them, the Botts and the Hastings who all used to go to church with us in Orlando. It was a great visit.

Tomorrow evening we’ll be participating in the WA banquet at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 800 East Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 32514 at 7pm. We left Daytona this morning and drove up A1A along the coast up to Jacksonville. Above are some things we saw from the car on the way. A1A follows the barrier islands on the east coast of Florida. For a few miles, it comes inland along the edge of St. Augustine.

After St. Augustine, it goes back out to the barrier islands. We stopped at a beach in Vilano Beach, which is where we purchased our truck a couple of years ago. We actually tested our truck along this stretch of A1A. To get to the beach we had to cross a wooden bridge that goes over A1A. The beach has red sand, and it’s covered with so many shells that it’s impossible not to step on them.

Our banquet tonight was in Daytona Beach. The location was beautiful–right on the intercoastal waterway. The room had big windows that looked out over the water.

We stayed with Woody & Evie Brewster. We worked with them in Orlando. Evie volunteered in the department I worked in. It was so nice to visit with them. Woody has planted amaryllis flowers all around their property. A few them are pictured to the left. As usual, you can click on the image to see it larger.
