Generosity

This weekend we spoke at Jeff’s home church in Los Angeles. The pastor’s sermon was on generosity not just of money and material possessions, but also of our time and talents. After we spoke at each service, he followed up by talking about the generosity of others that has helped us get to this point.

That is so true. When we look back, we can see how God caused our lives to intersect with so many people who have invested themselves in us–friends, family, teachers, co-workers, etc. Some people that we’ve never met have made investments that have touched our lives. We are incredibly thankful for everyone God has brought and everything God has given us.

Pacific Ocean

I love the ocean. I love the sound of the waves, the smell of salt water, the feel of sand on your feet… Being in the presence of the ocean makes me feel renewed and refreshed. We made a brief trip to a beach in Santa Monica (a city just west of LA). The air temperature was nice, but the water was cold.

Jet Lag and Mt. Wilson

Yesterday was a long day. We woke up at 3:00 am eastern time. Our first flight left at 6:30 am EST. We arrived in Los Angeles at about 11:30 am pacific time (or 2:30 pm EST). We were wiped out and went to bed at 8:30 pm PST (or 11:30 pm EST).

This morning we woke up late on the east coast, but early on the west coast. Ahh, jet lag! In addition to adjusting to the time zone, we got flu shots at CVS and drove to Mount Wilson which isn’t far from Jeff’s parents where we are staying. Los Angeles is in the valley below us.

It’s nice to be back in shorts again! It’s in the 80s today.

Going to Los Angeles

We go to Los Angeles tomorrow morning. I can’t believe we’ve already completed a month in New England. It’s been a good trip. We’ve enjoyed visiting with family & friends, speaking at a variety of churches, and seeing fall for the first time in a long time.

Tomorrow we’ll get to enjoy warm temperatures again! We’ll be in LA and surrounding areas for a month.
