Crossing Paths

In Wycliffe, you never know where you might run into someone again. In 2005, I was in Nairobi, Kenya for meetings. This picture is of our group at The Carnivore restaurant enjoying some crocodile, ostrich, and camel.

Well, Ed, who was at these meetings with me back in 2005, is the speaker at the rest of the WA banquets for which we will be participating in California. I hadn’t recognized his name, but the pieces came together tonight when we saw him at the banquet tonight.

Fullerton, CA

Last night was our last banquet with the Rings. Our crowd included Earl Adams and George Cowan, a couple of people that have served with Wycliffe for more than 50 years.

I Clap My Hands for You

In Andy’s opening story, he shares about how a man from the area where he and Kate were working in Ghana had been suspicious of what they were doing. Amongst his thoughts were that maybe they were printing money. When he discovered that they had been translating the Bible, he said (in my phonetic spelling), Boh-jah-mee-ah-new, Boh-jah-mee-ah-new, which means I clap my hands for you.

We were in Onterio, California tonight. Hearing Andy’s stories renews our excitement for what we are preparing to do in Kenya. To all our translation colleagues, we clap our hands for you!

Touring California

We’ve been to the banquets in San Bernadino and Riverside. Last night we were in Hesperia. Our friends Ron & Gloria were there. They used to work with us in Orlando. It’s always good to see them. Gloria took some pictures of us in action :) . Mike Williams and Andy, Kate and Mary Lois Ring have been at the banquets with us. Mike is the emcee for all of these banquets and Andy has been the main speaker. Andy & Kate have been Bible translators in Ghana, Africa, and it’s been neat to hear some of their stories.
