How translation happens
Have you ever wondered how the whole Bible translation process happens? The slide show above gives a little picture of what it looks like. (Go here to view the slide show with captions on wycliffe.net)
Bible translation is a community work done with many different members of a language community. It also involves many partnering organizations who each lend their expertise in different areas — some help with linguistics or theology, others with publishing, audio scripture, literacy, or even scripture-based videos or movies.
Our home organization, Wycliffe USA, has put together some additional materials that show how some translations are done. Have a look: http://www.wycliffe.org/transformation/ This shows examples of projects that involve foreign staff. Keep in mind that many Bible translation projects are now done mostly by the language community.
