The Long Process of Moving
We’ve found a wonderful long-term place to live. We got the keys on April 1, but it’s needed some work before we can move in. This week has been tiring. We’ve had cleaners, painters, repairmen and installation people coming through all week. In the process, we’re encountering more of the culture and having to make quick adjustments.
- When will they arrive?
- Do we need to be at the house when they are there?
- How long will the job take?
- What equipment will we be expected to provide?
- Do we need to provide lunch?
- Do we need to give a tip?
- Do we need to ask for a receipt?
- What expenses will our landlord cover and which ones will we have to cover?
The place is coming together well, but navigating through some of these issues has been tiring. I can sometimes struggle to know what exactly to do in these situations at home. It can be even more challenging here because the way things are done can be so different from what we are used to. As the guests here, we’re trying to learn as quickly as we can what we’re supposed to do. We’re thankful that our workers have been patient with us as we learn!
The good news is, the roof leaks are fixed, the bedrooms are painted, the windows are clean… slow and steady progress!
We hope to move in shortly after Easter.

Jeff,
We are curious about your family history. Who is your father? And your grandfather? We descend from Rudolf Pubols in Oregon.
Have you met Ken Edgar? He is with Wycliffe Associates in Kenya, directing construction of a school for the deaf.
