A View from Above
We’re getting very close to our financial goal, and we’re thinking more about our departure. Where are we going to live, what do we need to bring, etc.
Google maps…great tool. You can actually see a satellite view of the area where we will be working (and hopefully living) in Nairobi, Kenya. We’ll be in part of the city called Nairobi Hill. We’ll be in the Upper Hill area (which is kind of in the southeast corner of Nairobi Hill), north and west of the Nyayo Stadium, just west of the train tracks. The office is a little south and east of Upper Hill Rd.
If you zoom out and pan to the left, right, up and down, you can see where we will be located in relationship to:
- Nairobi City Hall (north and east)
- Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where we’ll fly in (south and east)
- Nairobi Game Park, labeled national park (south)
- The town of Karen, named after Karen Blixen (south and west)
- The British High Commission (aka, embassy) (north and west)
- Nakumatt Mega Supermarket (kind of like a Kenyan Super-Walmart) (east).
Most likely, we will be renting an apartment (flat or townhouse style), hopefully within walking distance of the office where we will be working.
