Finding God’s Fingerprints

O LORD, you have searched me
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
you know it completely, O LORD.
-Psalm 139:1-4, NIV

This journey has been wonderful, but it has not been without it’s share of set backs and discouragements. I’ve found myself jubilant and then depressed, joyful and then sorrowful… In one of those down moments, the Lord brought Psalm 139 to me. He understands my struggles and triumphs. He knows me completely. He is always there.

He’s been leaving his fingerprints along the way to remind me of his presence. We just arrived in LA, and he’s already showing up. Early on Wednesday, I went to a BSF class in this area. I’m connecting with this group while we’re here. I sat next to another girl around my age and began to talk to her. She recently moved to this country from Australia. Her father is a pastor there. In June, a month after she arrived in the US, her father was diagnosed with cancer. As we continued to talk, aspects of our situations felt almost eerily similar. Amazing. God reminded me in that moment that he was there…he remembered me…

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
-Psalm 139:7, NIV
