A Lasting Message

Our organization, while it could be characterized as fitting under the evangelical umbrella, is not connected to any one denomination, but accepts those that adhere to their statement of faith. Bible translation is a very specialized and technical field that many denominations wouldn’t have the capacity to do effectively on their own, so Wycliffe brings like-minded Christians together to work in this niche area of missions and service.

For this reason, while we’ve been traveling and speaking, we’ve been able to share about our ministry and the work of Bible translation in a variety of different kinds of churches–Assemblies of God, Baptist, Church of God, Congregational, Evangelical Covenant, Lutheran, Nazarene, Non-denominational, Plymouth Brethren, Presbyterian…I’m sure there are others that I can’t think of at the moment… We believe that the work that Wycliffe does benefits the ministries of all of these groups, and it’s great to be able to spread the word about Bible translation to those that hold the scriptures in high esteem.

In Massachusetts we’ve enjoyed the unique opportunity of connecting with several churches that have been lights of the gospel to their communities for more than 100 years! On Sunday we spoke at Pacific Union Congregational Church in Westport, MA. Started in 1855 this church is part of the Conservative Congregational Christian Churches (4C). It was in a congregational church in Massachusetts that Jonathan Edwards emerged and the Great Awakening began.
