Surgery will be on Tuesday
My parents were able to get an appointment with a neurologist sooner than they expected. They met with Dr. Deus Cielo who is a neurosurgeon in Providence. Deus is Latin for God and cielo is Spanish for Heaven. Isn’t that interesting? Even that feels like a reminder that God is watching over our situation.
After a series of tests, Dr. Cielo determined that the tumor was too large to be removed with the gamma knife. Part of the tumor is similar to a cyst. He said that it is continuing to grow as it fills with water, so the tumor has to be removed as soon as possible.
Brain surgery to remove the tumor is scheduled for Tuesday at Rhode Island hospital. The surgery can be risky. The tumor will be tested for cancer after it is removed, and after the results are in the doctor will recommend further treatment if it is necessary.
Please continue to pray for my dad and our family.

I’m praying for both of you and your family! My younger brother had brain surgery last year and it is certainly not an easy thing for anyone (or family member) to deal with. Thanks for keeping us updated so we can be praying.
Heather, I’ll be praying for your dad’s surgery tomorrow – guidance and skill for the surgeons, a complete success, a full and uneventful recovery, and peace for you all as you walk through this tough time with him! Keep us posted.
